Survey of 50 families in progress in Vietnam
PiCCA and Hearts for Hue (H4H) signed a Partnership and Funding Agreement on 12 June 2018. The agreement specifically states that the primary goal of the project is to enhance the lives and livelihoods for people with disabilities. To have an accurate assessment of the impact of the project for people with disabilities and their families, H4H will interview all participants at commencement and upon finalisation.
On 5 July 2018 H4H met with 50 families in Vinh Phu who were very pleased to register to take part in the program. H4H has commenced a survey of all these families to assess their living conditions and capacity to take part. A profile and a specific plan will then be developed for each of them. The survey will take three weeks and be completed by the end of July. Families will then receive training on chicken raising skills, and how to build a chicken coop. Building of the chicken coops will begin in early August.
Training to start soon in Congo
PiCCA, AusCongo and KYEEMA Foundation signed a Partnership and Funding Agreement on 14 June 2018.
The specialist trainer who will run the chicken vaccination training programs is currently in the Congo and the training will start before the end of July. This timing might seem constricted but it is important given that the outbreaks of Newcastle disease (which decimates chickens) usually occur in September when the rainy season starts. KYEEMA and AusCongo are working hard to get ready to begin the training and the first vaccination activity. Their work will include consultation with communities on the timing for the training; selection of community vaccinators; printing training materials; quotes for equipment to be purchased; and the purchase of vaccine for the first year.
