Two weeks into the crowdfunding campaign and we have raised $10,000 of the $26,000 needed to build Luman Hipakoko, A Place to Find Help, in remote Hako on Buka Island in Bougainville.
The women in Hako have already started work on the site with the funds raised so far. This will help them provide refuge to women escaping domestic violence and to deliver services in parenting education, disability support and other programs for the people of Hako.
This is an excellent beginning but we still have a mountain to climb.
